Adrienne

J, was a 45 year old woman who presented after wanting something done to her front teeth. Although they had never given her problems, they were unsightly and the previous imcomplete composite veneers were starting to stain at the edges. She was also concerned about the slight overlap of the teeth, their prominence and the fact that the looked too big. A decision was made to reduce the protrusion of the teeth by grinding them back and then improving their appearance by composite veneering. Again, cost prohibited the use of porcelain veneers.

This shows the case before any work was carried out. A thorough examination was carried out, including radiographs (x-rays) and study models. This is to make sure that the teeth are healthy enough for cosmetic treatment and that the bite was suitable for the placement of veneers. If the bite interferes with the veneers, they won't last as long. Note how there is a slight overlap of the tips of the incisors. Aso you can see how the partial veneers are starting to unbond at the edges leaving an unsightly stain.

After the composites are placed, polishing and shaping of the composites is carried out. Full veneers extend from the tip of the tooth right up to the gum line. If adequate polishing and moisture control is carried out, Adrienne should never get the stains she had before.
